I am running WAIK with supplement for Win7 SP1. This is on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have been able to import a Win 7 Enterprise x64 non-SP1 OS without issue. When trying to import Win 7  Enterprise x64 SP1 OS I receive the error:
Unable to get information for WIM file d:\setup\Windows 7 Ent x64 SP1\Sources\install.wim

I'm pretty new to this WAIK stuff. Any ideas? I suspected it might be a corrupt OS ISO but i have downloaded it three times with the same error. The last ISO was a know good ISO that has been installed via DVD on a system without error.

Thanks
Mike

Don't use the Windows AIK update/supplement (or be more or less forced to edit the settings.xml in MDT). The WAIK update is not needed for any deployment... WAIK 3.0 will happily deploy Windows 7 SP1, and the hotfixes included in the WAIK update are avaialble as standalone hotfixes for WAIK 3.0 if needed.

I was actually receiving this error prior to installing WAIK for SP1. Before doing my reading I guessed that the error was due to NOT having the service pack installed. Is it possible to revert back to non-SP1 WAIK so I can test again? Would this require a uninstall and reinstall of WAIK or could i simply install over the current version? I attempted to edit the XML file with the below changes per the article but still received the error.

<Boot.x86.UseBootWim>True</Boot.x86.UseBootWim>
<Boot.x64.UseBootWim>True</Boot.x64.UseBootWim>

They should be changed to instead say:

<Boot.x86.UseBootWim>False</Boot.x86.UseBootWim>
<Boot.x64.UseBootWim>False</Boot.x64.UseBootWim>

If you get the error during import, it could be because of incorrect WIMGAPI versions, check this post:

Or simply a missing reboot after installing Windows AIK.

I have also seen similar errors when the WMI (or ISO) has been corrup.
